Live well in different situations after a total laryngectomy
Provox HMEs are designed to work in different situations, depending on the time of day and what you’re doing.

HMEs for different situations
Below you can read introductions to the different Provox products you might want to use for different activities and why they’re suitable.
The best HME for everyday use
We recommend Provox XtraMoist. It keeps the air humid and is comfortable to breathe through. This helps keep coughing and mucus to a minimum.
The best HME for being active
We recommend using Provox XtraFlow. It makes breathing easier when you’re physically active, while keeping the air you breathe humid.
Going out
Provox Micron HME is specially designed to protect you when you’re out and about, either around lots of people or if the air isn’t particularly clean. If there are lots of people around, it can help protect you from bacteria and viruses, especially during the flu season. When you’re working in the garden, it can filter out pollen.
*Please note: Please note that Provox Micron HME filtration capacity may vary depending on the size, shape and speed of airborne particles. Since pathogens can get into the human body in other ways, Provox Micron HME can never guarantee complete protection. Please read the instructions for guidance.
Improving your sleep
If you struggle to get a good night’s sleep, you can rest assured you’re not the only one. Bad sleep is a common problem.
“Getting a proper rest means everything to me. I can do what I want to do and enjoy it more the next day, when I take care of my lungs the night before.”*
- Leo, 49.
*Any patient testimonials in this article give accounts of individual responses to treatment. The accounts are genuine, typical, and documented, but the response that other individuals have to the treatment could be different as responses to the treatment can and do vary.
The quality of your sleep may be affected after having had a laryngectomy. We all know that a good night gives you the energy you need to do the things you love the following day. But not all of us are able to get enough rest. Your nights might be interrupted by coughing or having to wake up to clear away mucus, for instance.
The Provox Luna HME and adhesive are designed for sleep and may help you get better rest overnight by increasing the humidification and improve your lung health.
